Pixels, vectors, pages.
One document.
nori is lsuite's image and design app, in beta: retouch a photo, draw a logo and lay out the poster it goes on, in the same document, the work of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign in one app. A Rust engine draws it all; like every lsuite app, everything you can click is a command, so you, a script or an AI agent can make the same edits, with one undo.
Beta · 0.1 · free and MIT licensed · macOS, Windows, Linux · native Rust app · drivable by your AI · no telemetry

Three tools, one document.
Raster layers, vector shapes and pages live side by side in one .nori file: plain data in Rust, drawn on the GPU in lsuite's black-and-white look. All three share one canvas and one undo history.
Layers and masks
Pixel and adjustment layers, masks and blend modes. Embedded smart objects preserve their originals when resized, with separate document tabs and undo histories.
Paths, shapes and type
Pen paths, shapes, strokes and fills that stay sharp at any size, next to the pixels they sit on.
Pages and text frames
Pages, margins and grids, text that flows from frame to frame, and images placed from the same document.
Adjustments and filters
Levels, an interactive RGB/channel curves graph, hue and saturation, .cube LUTs, blurs and sharpening, worked out in tiles at full precision.
A brush engine
Size, flow, spacing, hardness and pressure controls, an eraser, and brushes from .gbr files; swatches from .ase.
Open formats
PNG, JPEG, WebP, TIFF, BMP, layered PSD and OpenRaster export; PDF with selectable text; IDML in and out; PDF-compatible Illustrator and 8-bit GIMP XCF import; and the .nori document, a file you can read.
Three apps you'd pay for, in one you don't.
What you'd do in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign happens in one nori document. It opens Photoshop documents with their layers and imports GIMP brushes, so your work comes along. Complex PSD and IDML content uses rendered fallbacks; Illustrator import needs PDF compatibility. Format and tablet support details.
Your AI can design too.
One command registry for the window, the built-in agent, nori-cli and nori-mcp. The agent uses lsuite AI or the model you already have: Claude Code, Codex, an API key or a local model. It shows one card per command, and you decide what it may touch.

Describe a filter. Your agent writes it in Rust.
nori's filters are plugins: the stock ones ship with it, and the nori-plugin SDK runs yours on the same tiles, at full precision, without blocking the canvas. In the Plugins area, "Describe the plugin you want" starts your agent on it: it writes the crate, builds it until it's green and loads it without a restart.
In the box
The filters and adjustments nori ships with, listed with what they do.
Yours, switchable
Every plugin on the computer with its version and an on/off switch always in view. A failing filter is switched off and its edit is discarded.
Ask, then use it
Rust is offered if it's missing; building plugins is a permission you give the agent.
No setup: sign in and the agent works.
lsuite AI is the first choice in nori's agent: sign in once and Claude works in nori and every lsuite app on your computer. Your own subscriptions and keys stay free. A demo for now: no payment is taken.
Every version, in plain words.
